Douglas Edward Booster (Doug), 66 of Bend, passed away on January 22nd from a heart attack while working out.
Doug was born on April 7th, 1958 to Dean and Martha Booster in Corvallis, Oregon. After graduating from Corvallis High School, home of the Spartans, in 1977, he went on to study at Oregon State University (Go Beavs). At Oregon State, he met the love of his life and best friend in a collegiate gymnast, Sally Humble (now Booster). Their love was rich and deep and Doug lived to find unique ways to demonstrate that to Sally.
After graduating with a degree in Physical Education and a Masters in Health Education, he started his first job at Linn Benton Community College as an instructor. This kickstarted a career that would include him impacting lives at Central Oregon Community College and through his own leadership development company, Pro Health Net. He was instrumental in the development of wildland fire leadership across the country, as well as FEMA and other organizations.
In 1984, Doug would marry Sally in Corvallis. Doug and Sally went on to have four children, (Conner, Maddy, Shea, and Kasey), three children-by-law, (Kersey, Ian, and Kourtney) and two grandsons (Kenneth and Corbin).
He loved mountain biking, rooting for the Beavers, and live music. He could often be found working in the yard with Sally, befriending strangers, and swapping stories with folks at his favorite bars.
Doug is known by the masses for being a man of integrity, character, compassion and immense generosity. He was larger than life but humble enough to serve anyone in need.
He was predeceased in death by his father (Dean), his mother (Martha), and his little brother (Kenneth). He is survived by his wife, Sally, his children: Conner, Kersey, Maddy, Ian, Shea, Kourtney, his sweet Kasey and his two grand sons, Kenneth and Corbin.
The Celebration of Life will be held at COCC on Feb 16th at 2pm in the Mazama Hall gymnasium.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation and National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI: https://donate.nami.org/dougbooster).
Both organizations work to fulfill missions close to Doug. He will be honored at the Wildland Firefighter Foundation headquarters in Boise, Idaho with a memorial brick. Thank you for helping continue his work.
