George Yocom, passed away on December 3rd 2024.
He was a firefighter, an aviator, a teacher and mentor.
Many helitack and rappellers remember him as the oldest rappeller who successfully completed rappel training.
He had many phrases, as the rotors started to turn, he would remind the rookies that "slow is fast, fast is slow and that the speed is in the helicopter"
Once retired, he took to hiking and mountain biking...some of his hikes included the trails of the Pacific Crest, the John Muir, Colorado's high mountain trails, and the Great Divide on his mountain bike.
We were not ready for you to go, just yet...Rest in Peace George
