Dillon Barousse Memorial

Dillon Barousse Memorial

On March 12th 2018 the Barousse family was struck with tragedy when Dillon lost his life in the line of duty. Following the heartbreaking event, the Wildland Fire Foundation stepped in and supported Dillons wife Holly, and other family members to alleviate some stress. This gave them the space to mourn and lean on each other, and others from Dillons fire brothers and sisters, during those initial hard days.

Over the years the Foundation has been a focal point of community and support for Holly and our fire program. With out donations made to the foundation in the past, none of this would be possible. Our goal is to raise money for others that face tragic events, so they too can have the community and support that we have received.

Dillon was a hard worker, and truly loved what he did. He loved working on his property with his wife and many animals, they had big dreams of building a forever home on their land. Dillon was even milling his own lumber to build their home! He was passionate at work, and poured himself to each skill he learned. He cared about people and the land he was protecting, and always had a smile on his face while doing it. We have all greatly missed Dillon over the years, but the memories and funny stories keeps his spirit alive. Like the fire assignment in southern AZ that Dillon and I spent 2 weeks searching for "that funny looking monkey thing" which is actually a Coati. Dillon did see one, but only its tail as it ran into a culvert.

Thank you for your donation in Dillons name, he is giving you a high five a giant smile.
